Mid/Late Spring Trip???
« on: January 09, 2018, 07:09:06 PM »
I need a trip to start planning for so I don't go crazy over the winter.

I'm thinking more of an overland style trip. Avoid civilization. Camping. Vista views? Deep woods?

Colorado is my go-to destination, but I'll do that later in the year. It will still go on the list though.

- Colorado? (15% of the trails open?)
- Wyoming?
- Northwoods (Northern MN and the Upper Peninsula)
- Moab area
- Arkansas (Trans America Trail maybe?)
- South Dakota

Ideas? Interest?

Sounds fun and I'd normally be interested, but this summer is not looking good. I think we will be buying and selling a house, garage sale down sizing and eventually moving, but hope to make a trip somewhere.

I can't make it either, because I sold my Jk to collect old rusty parts in my garage instead of actually wheeling a jeep anywhere.

*You are welcome for this edit Justin.

I have a co-worker with an XJ that would be interested in going with his girlfriend. She does the nature photography and he's more of the MIOBI type.

DESTINATION: Colorado.

TIME FRAME OPTIONS: Last two weeks in June and the first week in July. Somewhere in there. July 4th week will be heavier traffic on and off road, but easier for people to plan around. I'm flexible.

TRIP LENGTH: 7+ days

TRIP STYLE: Backroads overland style. Primitive camping. No interstate. A sketchy motel in an old mining town has been known to happen. Focus on scenery and exploration rather than particular trails with obstacles.

DIFFICULTY: It would be up to the group. I'm cool with about anything, but narrow shelf roads freak me out.

TRAILS: Depends on what's open. Even with heavy snowfall there will be plenty of options. I have a couple locations/routes in mind.

MY PASSENGER SEAT: Empty

I was going to post some inspirational photos, but my photobucket is now jacked. Here's an old video made by Jim Shanks way back in 2012. It's kinda nostalgic. I was in my old TJ before I got retarded and sold it and Luke was in his current 4runner in near stock mode.

I still wish I would have been able to take the 83 buggy even though it would have been wet and cold.

Looked like a bit of Pickle Gulch and T33a/bunce school road trails in that video. I forgot that Matt Carver went, shortly after buying Corys jeep
