Need some help
« on: July 24, 2017, 09:14:46 PM »
So I put a hold on a jeep I plan to buy in Illinois. YAY! That said, I recently moved out of my place and have nowhere to work on my jeep any more.  I would like to keep the lift, wheels, and front bumper from my current jeep.  I have all the stock stuff still to put back on, so a big job and kind of time sensitive.  Anyone available to help out and have some space?  I may have a spot at a buddy's but it would be all the way in Clive.  Thanks in advance for anyone willing to assist.

That is the tough part... I was hoping to drive out there this weekend, but don't know if I can get the work done in an evening this week.  Basically need to swap springs, shocks, control arms, track bar, bumper and wheels.  Some of it can be split out, but I also need to drive it for work so would like to get the suspension done in one shot.  If it isn't doable, I can maybe work on it this weekend and hopefully get a day off of work next week to drive down and get it, but that is up to the bosses.

Maybe a Friday night, Sat day, drive out Sunday would work.

Realistically, you could split it up into 2 or 3 sessions(nights).
1st session - springs & shocks
2nd - control arms & track bar
3rd - wheels & bumper
Kinda depends on the amount of help you get and how many sessions it will take.

So apparently the dealership isn't open on Sundays.  So I either need to get this done prior to Sat morning or take a day off next week to go get it.  If at all possible I would prefer not to take a vacation day, but I will do what I have to.  I think I am going to swap the bumper tonight, which I should be able to do at my apartment.   I will probably swap the wheels when I am doing the springs/shocks as the wheels will have to come off for that anyhow.  Which job do you think would be bigger, shocks/springs or control arms/track bar?  I could probably do one of those Thursday night and the larger job Friday night.  Thoughts?

I would think Ctrl Arms, shocks and struts all kind of go together.  My suggestion, rent a cheap car for a day or 2, park the Jeep at your buddies and don't be constrained by needing a driveable vehicle.

I should be able to help out an evening or 2.

Who is all free Thursday night and Friday night?  Also does anyone have any take off rear sway links?  I forgot that I broke one or both of them taking them off.
