Jonezy's Build - AKA "Tomb Raider"
« on: August 19, 2015, 11:53:44 AM »
I guess it is time to start documenting my sickness/disease.

I found this one on Ebay Motors located in Southern Oklahoma. A clean, stock, low mileage, 2005 TJ Rubicon with the 4.0L six and a six-speed manual transmission.

Looks amazing. Far enough south that maybe it hasn't seen a lot of road salt either.
It's a rock - get over it

So did you Google the tomb raider jeep yet, or just taking my word on this Scott? ;-)

I just called it that, because that's what it reminded me of but have since found out that in 2003 there was a production tomb raider edition, so maybe we can find those parts and convert yours! :-)

Actually, I did google it. I would need a few modifications and half doors, but it does look somewhat similar.

By the way, the Tomb Raider comment was for you John!

The first modification was to eliminate the tube steps from the sides and then the "jugs" from the bumper ends. I added a used soft top as it came with the hard top only (Thank you Andrew Ferrin and John Larson!)

I just wanted to add a picture of the stubby raider, after its lift to keep this build bio moving, but just remembered you have done more since then. New tire(s), lights, other tweaks and mods haven't you?

"Stubby the Tomb Raider" grows up....some

Ryan working on the track bar relocation bracket

Justin working on the extended sway bar links

John working on the new shocks and springs

Joe removing the headlights to aid in the installation of the body lift

A comparison of the stock rear springs versus the 3" Zone springs

The finished product (otherwise known as the new and improved Stubby)

Thanks to all who made this happen!

Shaking down the new lift and initiating my Dad on the same run. Loving the flex on this Zone 4.25 Combo! :)

I had to do some re-sizing in order to get the pictures small enough to post.

Added matching size spare and removed the spare cover(doesn't fit). I now know why they only bought 4.
