After our May Jeeping campout got cancelled due to rain, the boys from my son’s boy scout troop said they would like to try again for our October campout.

The scouts will be camping at the farm from Friday Evening to Sunday morning with a Jeeping Demo on Saturday.

For this, we are looking for a few experienced people to come out on Saturday October 21st who are willing to give the scouts rides on some of the more tame obstacles.  We also show them some of the more difficult obstacles as they observe from a safe distance.

We've done this before with Ryan's scout troop and its a blast to see their reactions as you show them what a jeep can do.

We ask you to complete the national BSA Youth Protection Training prior to attending.  It's web based and takes about 20 minutes to complete.  It's available for free online at: www.my.scouting.org  - create an account and the link for the training is on the right.

Just think of how many future Jeep owners we will have after this experience!

Who's in?

I had to change the weekend to the October 20th-22nd since a lot of boys had a school conflict on the 14th.

Hi Cvalvore,  I just updated the post to clarify that.  This outing will be at "the farm".  It is the strip mine that most local JOCCI wheeling events are at.

Would it be ok to have some cub scouts join your group possibly? I have a jeep and i am bsa trained also. I would have to run it by the rest of the pack first but i thought i would ask.

Bummer! I was planning to help out with this, but just now realized the date changed to a weekend I won't be around.

Hi Cvalcore,

Sorry for not responding sooner.  I've been pretty busy lately.  I'm also a bear den leader for my younger son's den and would love to bring them along, however, it is not practical.  Cub scouts would need to be accompanied by their parents.  The logistics of that would really complicate things and change the nature of the Boy Scout campout.  This is our first time doing this as a troop and I would like to get one under our belt before we try shaking things up.

Hope you understand.

Were now a couple of weeks out, so I figured I would post up to see if I can get some confirmations on who's going to be able to come wheeling with the scouts.

As of right now, it looks like we have 17 boys and 8 adults coming and all are looking forward to trying out wheeling!

Thanks Bill!

I know that we had about 6 people raise their hand at the last JOCCI meeting when asked who might be able to come.  I expect we'll have more chime in.

I wanted to confirm if one of the BODs has gotten approval from the land owner for this.

Thanks!

Thanks Scott!  That gives us three Jeeps.

Paul and Rick were strong Maybe's and Cody, the guy that stopped by the meeting last night with his son is planning on coming.

Now all we need is for the weather to cooperate and we are golden.  The forecast for Saturday is improving.  It may even turn out to be nice enough for Dave to bring his doorless Frankenjeep out.
