Spider Lake OHV, July 28th, 2017

Went to the cabin in Minnesota last week and I usually go to the Iron Range OHV park. This year, I didn't really feel like making the drive, so I decided to check out the Spider Lake OHV area, which is a lot closer to our cabin. I had never been and couldn't find much info on it.

The trails here were extremely easy and definitely geared towards ATVs, SxSs, and motorcycles. At street tire pressure, 2WD, and 1st gear, I idled through everything without ever slipping a tire. It hadn't rained all week, so there were only a few spots that had mud or standing water. I was able to avoid 95% of that nasty stuff. In just under an hour, I had probably run 70% of the trails that full size vehicles are allowed on. My overall take-away: boring.

On the plus side, the trails were well groomed and marked. I had no problem figuring out where I was and where I was going at the trail intersections. This place would be just fine for any beginning-wheeler with a stock 4WD vehicle.

The dotted black lines are the ATV and motorcycle only trails and the solid black lines can be ran with full size vehicles:

I struggled to find any decent photo-ops too:

Did you see any other full size rigs at the park?

I didn't run into anyone on the trails. The main forest road has campsites along the sides and they were full of ATVs and SxSs. I noticed people staring as I drove by, but I don't know if it was because I was in a full size vehicle or a bright green Jeep.  ::)
